YOU’VE EARNED A GIRL’S NIGHT OUT ON LONG ISLAND!

OUR FAVORITE DESTINATIONS ON LI

Mothers have the amazing ability to juggle a million things at once. You get the kids ready for school. You spend eight hours a day at work. You come home and get things ready for the next day, and then you do it all over again. For that alone, you deserve a medal, or at least a few hours to spend away from your family enjoying your girlfriends. If one of your New Year’s resolutions for 2013 was to spend more time on yourself, getting a girls’ night out on the calendar for January or February is a step in the right direction.

We’ve all known intuitively for years that the bond between a woman and her friends is special. Scientists have confirmed this, finding that women are able to release a trail of chemicals that counteract the day-to-day effects of stress when spending time with friends. In fact, women with a larger circle of friends were found less likely to experience blood pressure, heart issues, or high cholesterol. If you haven’t seen your best friends since before Thanksgiving, a girls’ night out might be just what the doctor ordered.

CHOOSE LUXURY TRANSPORTATION

Once you’ve picked a date with your friends, check for specials on local Long Island luxury transportation service as an option for getting where you want to go. Whether you go with a classic stretch limousine or a modern SUV, it’s worthwhile to spend a few hours away from the wheel. After years of playing chauffeur yourself between school, soccer practice, and piano lessons, you’ve earned the right to be driven. Besides, you might want to have a second (or third) glass of wine throughout the evening.

Domaine Wine Bar

One of the classiest places to start an evening on Long Island, Domaine Wine Bar has been described as “absolutely perfect for a few pre-dinner” glasses of wine. It’s ambient and classy without being stuffy, and the bartender is extremely helpful when making recommendations to newcomers. Enjoy a plate of cheese with your wine and live jazz music several nights a week. If you’re hoping to really reconnect with friends, it’s the perfect place to just unwind and chat.

Glencove Mansion Spa

This gorgeous Georgian-Style mansion on the Gold Coast is the perfect place to schedule that after-hours spa treatment you’ve been craving for months. Once you’re driven onto the 55 acres surrounding the hotel, you’ll feel that you’ve left the world behind entirely. The extensive menu of services includes many packages for groups and options like a sea salt scrub, massages, and full-body moisturizing treatments with shea butter. At the time of writing, the Glencove was offering a special discounted rate for groups who purchased 2 or more 90-minute Swedish massages—$99 instead of the usual $175.

Your Mother’s House

Sometimes girls just want to have fun, and a laidback bar can be just the way to relax with friends. Your Mother’s House offers nightly ladies’ nights, and it’s considered one of the best bars on the Island for groups of girls. The bar serves its happy hour menu, which includes food options, $2 domestic beers and $6 cosomopolitans or martinis, until 6 p.m. nightly. Live music performances are held on Fridays, and a DJ spins on Saturday nights.

Cupcake Couture

Sometimes, you just need a cupcake. A recent addition to Long Island, Cupcake Couture’s original three branches have been family-owned and operated in Texas for several years. Many of the classic cupcakes are almost always available, including Red Velvet, German Chocolate and Carrot Cake. Call ahead to learn about the menu of specials, which can change daily, and inquire about parties or larger orders.
