Summertime can bring some of the most magical experiences, whether it’s the vacation you’ve been planning for months or impromptu gatherings with your closest friends. Whether you enjoy traveling throughout the summer months or prefer to explore the special summer events around your own hometown, you’re sure to have some experiences that you cherish throughout the year.

If you happen to be planning a trip to New York City this coming summer, you can choose from any number of amazing events to keep your schedule full. One of our favorite ways to spend a summer night in NYC is to check out some of the outdoor music events going on around the city. Make a date night of your outdoor music experience and book a limousine to handle your transportation for the evening; not only will you have the expert driving skills of a professional chauffeur on hand, you won’t have to worry about parking or navigating the craziness of NYC’s summer traffic. NEW YORK PHILHARMONICS IN THE PARK

Whether you’re in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, or Staten Island, you can stop by on a summer evening for the musical stylings of the New York Philharmonics. Our favorite destination for these amazing summer shows is Central Park, where the Philharmonics bring you their show from the Park’s famous Great Lawn. The shows start at 8 pm, alcohol is permitted and everything is absolutely free.

METROPOLITAN OPERA IN THE PARK

From July to August every year, the Metropolitan Opera hosts 6 concerts in each of the five boroughs of New York and in 2014, they’re continuing the beloved tradition with a kickoff concert in Central Park on July 16. With some of the most renowned opera singers in the country on hand, your summer music experience with the Metropolitan Opera is sure to be memorable. Did we mention that every concert is free?

SUMMERGARDEN

For over 40 years, the Museum of Modern Art in New York City has been hosting one of the most renowned and anticipated summer concert series in the country. The free concert series will take place at the Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Sculpture Garden, July 7-28, and the gates open at 7 pm, with the concerts beginning at 8 pm. The music will feature the talents of the Juilliard School and Jazz at Lincoln Center.

CELEBRATE BROOKLYN

This longtime-running performing arts festival has been attracting tons of people from around New York City since 1979, and this year is no different. Prospect Park will be alive with the sounds of music, dancing and summertime fun this year, with a variety of different performers from a plethora of genres in line to keep the good times rolling throughout the concert series.

SUMMERSTAGE BY CITY PARKS FOUNDATION

This summer program presents a variety of artistic avenues, from music to performance art, throughout the summer months, and the majority of the performances are free of charge. SummerStage functions as a wonderful platform for bringing together the populations of New York City’s boroughs and attracting new visitors to the city, as well as highlighting the importance of NYC’s public parks and meetings spaces.

Your experience in New York City this summer can have it all: limousine rides, amazing food and some free outdoor music to really set the mood. With so many amazing outdoor festivals and concert series to choose from, you’ll never be left without evening plans in the Big Apple this summer.
