HOW TO PLAN THE PERFECT 2013 LONG ISLAND HOLIDAY SEASON

DE-STRESS THIS HOLIDAY SEASON ON LONG ISLAND

The holidays are a stressful time for many people, especially those traveling across stateliness to visit family members. Whether you’ve got just a few items left on your shopping list or are one who (understandably) waits until the last minute, fighting the crowds to the mall, getting to the store of your destination and finding the perfect gift is a stressful endeavor that leaves many people frustrated, tired, and certainly in no mood to enjoy their family’s holiday traditions or the togetherness that the holidays bring.

Finding time to simply relax and enjoy your time with your family is an important part of experiencing the magic of the holidays. If you happen to be spending the holidays in Long Island this year, we’ve compiled a list of ideas for unwinding with your family and making the season bright.

TREE LIGHTING FESTIVAL

Christmas tree lightings in the big city is one of the most magical experiences during the holiday season. Cities like Long Island pride themselves on creating some of the most breathtaking holiday trees around, and this year is no exception. One of our favorite tree-lighting ceremonies in Long Island this year will be held at the Life Lutheran Church on Sunday, December 8 from 2 pm to 6 pm. With a Christmas craft fair, a musical extravaganza, a choir and dancers and a 75-foot spruce that will be lit at the end of the events, your and your family will have many marvels to enjoy throughout the afternoon.

BOOK A LIMO

One way to take the stress off in the city is to hire someone else to drive you around for your night. Not only will you be relieved of the stresses of navigating and parking, but you’ll get to enjoy the commute with your family or significant other without distraction. The world is your oyster once you have your car in place, whether it’s a special dinner, seeing carolers in the park or simply taking a drive around the city to see the lights. Your chauffeur will be a local expert who can offer plenty of advice on where to go during your night out.

THE BEST HOT CHOCOLATE ON LONG ISLAND

Some people wait all year round for the holidays to come around so they can enjoy the timeless holiday beverages that have warmed them and got them into the holiday spirit since they were a child. A cup of hot cocoa does wonders for everyone, from children up to adults. And luckily, Long Island has a few destinations for a great cup of cocoa. One of our favorite destinations on Long Island is the Witches’ Brew in Hempstead. A bit of a drive, but the place is totally worth it for the warm, rich and delicious hot cocoa and comfortable atmosphere.

However you experience the holidays on Long Island, remember to make time for some genuine fun with your family. Though it is true that a few certain stresses are unavoidable during this time of year, you don’t want to miss the importance of togetherness and making memories with the people you hold most dear.
