HOW TO MAKE THE MOST OF LONG ISLAND HARVEST SEASON 1

HOW TO MAKE THE MOST OF LONG ISLAND HARVEST SEASON

LONG ISLAND WINERIES AND AUTUMN GO HAND IN HAND

There’s just something special about that crisp note of wood smoke in the chilly autumn air, isn’t there? Fall is upon us, bringing opportunities for memorable and exciting outdoor activities. Sure, summer brings trips to the beach and family vacations, but autumn… Autumn is filled with pumpkin spice, pep rallies, bonfires, hayrides, and visits to Long Island wineries.

If you want to make the most of Long Island’s harvest season, start by reserving car service and then make plans to visit some of the island’s most beautiful autumn attractions. The wineries are a great place to start, but you’ll find plenty of other options for friends and family alike.

RISE OF THE JACK O’LANTERNS

Hosted by Long Island’s most famous Gold Coast mansion, the Rise of the Jack O’Lanterns is an experience not to be missed. Children and adults will love wandering the grounds of this historic treasure to see the 5,000 hand-carved pumpkins on display. You’ll need to call in advance for tickets, so plan now to attend between October 4 and November 3. This is fall fun that can’t be missed.

SCHMITT’S FAMILY FARM

What better way to make the most of harvest season than to visit a farm? The whole family will love the hayrides, corn mazes, and other activities throughout the month of October. Those with hardier constitutions may want to tour the haunted mansion. Don’t forget to pick out your pumpkin before you leave!

NIGHTMARE ON THE MIDWAY

Adventureland and the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation have teamed up to provide thrills and chills every weekend from October 5 through November 2. Enjoy the Halloween-themed attractions, including a haunted house, throughout the 14-acre park. Families are welcome during the day, but at night, things get a little scarier, so plan to visit with your adult friends after dark.

WINE TOURS

Harvest season also means a chance to try new wines. Many of the wineries in the area hold special autumn events where seasonal wines are introduced. The problem?

HOW CAN YOU CHOOSE ONLY ONE WINERY?

Fortunately, you can choose a wine tour that visits several in one day. In addition to a chance to try several wines while enjoying the cool, crisp autumn air, you’ll also have someone else to take care of the driving. You’ll see Baiting Hollow Farm Vineyard, Macari Vineyards, Pindar Vineyards, and Channing Daughters Winery. If you have a specific stop in mind, don’t hesitate to ask.

With so much to do, your autumn will pass by in a flash. Don’t worry. That simply means the holiday season is right around the corner, bringing even more exciting activities to keep you busy.
