BEAT THE SUMMER HEAT WITH REFRESHING WHITE WINES

MUST-KNOW INFO FOR TOURS TO PINDAR VINEYARDS

Summer’s the time for days on the beach and delicious meals at Long Island’s seasonal seafood restaurants. But after awhile, the same old spots may start to lose their appeal. That’s where Pindar Vineyards comes in. With whites that people rave about, a great outdoor area, and live music every week, the business is a great place to experience the outdoors in a relaxed and elegant atmosphere. If you want to take a tour to Pindar Vineyard, we’ve written a guide so you’ll know the business almost inside and out before you go.

THE WHITES

Pindar Vineyards has been praised for its well-made whites. Currently available are a chardonnay, a sauvignon blanc, and a Riesling, as well as wines that have elements of each. With tasting notes including pear and apple, the Peacock Chardonnay goes well with cheese. The Reisling mixes lychee, apricot, and citrus with the scent of jasmine and hibiscus. The 2011 Sauvignon Blanc is an acidic wine that suggests lemon and apple. Winter White, one of the most popular whites at Pindar, blends characteristics of the above-named drinks. It is an excellent choice for an aperitif. The Autumn Gold, another favorite for Pindar veterans, carries hints of grapefruit.

LIVE MUSIC

The vineyard hosts live music each week, featuring performances by local talents. Guests can spread out on a picnic blanket and listen to their smooth sounds as they enjoy a picnic, paired with their favorite wine. The following musicians will be performing at Pindar Vineyards this month:

GRANT WERNER, JULY 13

For those nostalgic for classics ranging from the ‘50s to the ‘70s, Grant Werner is your guy. When he’s not playing one of the standards from decades past, he’ll put on a show with country, big band, and folk tunes. Mixing precise musicianship with storytelling, Werner’s show will be a delight to all.

JOHNNY KROO, JULY 20

This singer/songwriter has to bring music to audiences throughout Suffolk County. For his July performance at Pindar Vineyards, audiences may hear anything from original songs to‘60s to contemporary tunes.

KEN SAMBOLIN, JULY 20

Lovers of Billy Joel, Lionel Richie, or Paul Simon are likely to hear some of their favorite tunes when they see Ken Sambolin perform. A musician whose career has taken him across the east coast and over the Caribbean, Sambolin is a talented and versatile musician.

TOMMY SULLIVAN, JULY 27

Sullivan’s music skills stretch between multiple instruments. He can play the saxophone, keyboard, and guitar, as well as carry a well-sang tune. With a history that includes founding the first rock group in the U.S. Army, Sullivan is an experienced musician who knows how to entertain a crowd.

PINDAR’S HISTORY

Pindar Vineyards is a family-run business founded by Dr. Dan Damianos. Each of his family members had a hand in the business, from his wife who worked in the tasting room, to his five children, who each made their own contributions, ranging from assisting in the tasting room to assisting with business operations. In 2005, Damiano handed the business reins to his three sons, each of whom have extensive experience in winemaking. Between running their own vineyards, receiving formal training in winemaking, and helping their father with the business, the Damianos boys are winemaking experts.

In addition to creating a quality wine, the business is also dedicated to using the greenest methods available. Its latest display of commitment to the environment is a wind-powered turbine. Along with green equipment, the Pindar Vineyards also boasts green practices such as recycling bottles, using water-saving dishwashers, and discontinuing the use of pesticides on the property.

With white wines, green methods, and live music, Pindar Vineyards is a great place to spend a summer afternoon. Your day will be even better if you hire car service to get you there. With a comfortable, relaxing car to chauffeur you, you will be freer to enjoy your company along the way. Even better, you won’t have to worry about driving after you’ve enjoyed some wine. Executive will take care of all that. We are more than happy to discuss our different vehicles and answer your questions about tours to Pindar Vineyards, so please don’t hesitate to contact us.
