BAR HOPPING IN LONG ISLAND CITY

BARS AND HUMMER LIMO RENTALS FOR A GUYS’ NIGHTS OUT

When was the last time you shot the breeze with just the guys? If you can’t remember the answer, that’s a pretty clear sign that you should arrange a guys’ night out. Long Island City has a collection of great bars to visit and Hummer limo rentals are a good option for getting you there. Your group will get the luxury of a spacious and eye-catching ride, as well as the security of not having to drive. In between the rides, you’ll enjoy some fine beers and other drinks. Gather the guys and kick back in your ride as you bar hop between these great spots.

ALEWIFE QUEENS

Tied to the original Alewife in Baltimore, this gastropub serves beers from both the States and Belgium and offers classic bar fare. The Creole mac n’ cheese and the Alewife burger are both hearty choices, or you can munch on bar snacks like duck fat spiced nuts and garlic fries if you want something lighter. There are 28 beers to choose from, so everyone in your group is likely to find something that they’ll like. Happy hour runs from Sunday through Thursday, 4:20 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., and Friday and Saturday 11:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m.

CORNER PUB

Twelve draft beers, including Blue Moon, Guinness, and Brooklyn lager, are yours for the taking at this bar, but one of the biggest draws is the Bistro Burger. This patron favorite features cheese sitting on top on broiled beef and bacon. You can enjoy it while soaking in the historical atmosphere, where antique chandeliers hang over the 75 seats and mahogany booths. Like Alewife, this business is the offspring of another. The original was born in the West Village at the beginning of the ‘60s, and its Long Island City outpost has the very same menu.

DOMAINE BAR A VINS

If you want to enjoy a classy night with wine and live music, this place could be a good outing. The dark setting makes for a peaceful place to sip on one of the business’s 40 wines, and live jazz concerts take place on most nights. Guests are treated to free plates of olives, but the menu also includes items such as iced oysters and shrimp cocktail, as well as several aged cheeses. The limited menu makes this place better for post-dinner drinks than anything else, but the elegant atmosphere makes it a must-stop.

DUTCH KILLS

Named after an area that was a key stopover for soldiers during the Revolutionary War, Dutch Kills prides itself on making drinks with fresh ingredients. It also uses high-quality ice chosen for just the right beverage. Pick from the array of cocktails, including Twentieth Century, Artist’s Special, or Bloody Knuckle, or try one of the hot drinks, such as the Hot Toddy, Bear Trap, or an Irish coffee. The dim lighting and simple furniture will make you feel like you’re sitting in a speakeasy.

THE GARDEN AT STUDIO SQUARE NYC

DJs and live bands set the scene here at this biergarten, where plenty of events make it a great spot to relax with a beer or three. Offering 18 American craft brews, The Garden stores its drinks using a cutting-edge tap system. During the day, visitors can park it on the picnic tables and soak in the fresh air. During the night, the garden holds ESPN game viewings, and during happy hour, held on the weekdays from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., guests can double their drinks at no additional charge. The Garden also offers 2 for 1 drinks whenever the song “Beer, Beer, Beer” is played.

LIC BAR

Right on the edge of Manhattan, this business occupies a 100-year-old space where the bartenders serve up cocktails, draft beers, and single-malt scotches. Arrange your guys’ night out for a Thursday and see how you do during the weekly trivia game, or pop in on a Sunday night to hear a local musician. Outdoor seating is available and patrons are allowed to order food from nearby restaurants.

SHANNON POT

This Irish pub draws a diverse crowd, from business men to graffiti artists. The laid-back environment includes paper-covered tables and rock music playing in the background, and visitors enjoy Guinness and the pub’s own Shamrock Ale. If you want a place that’s casual and low-key, this place is the right haunt for your group.

Guys’ nights out are an excellent way to make great memories with your friends. While you certainly shouldn’t go so crazy that the evening becomes a real-life enactment of The Hangover, you should feel free to enjoy the night you deserve. With a Hummer limo thrown into the mix, the experience will be even more memorable..
