6 SPECTACULAR SUMMER EVENTS IN SOUTHAMPTON

THINGS TO DO IN SOUTHAMPTON

Summertime in Southampton is a time of true relaxation. As if the area’s beautiful beaches weren’t enough to help you unwind, there are plenty of summer activities to help you enjoy your time there even more. Take a look at this small sampling of things to do in Southampton, and try to tell us that at least one of them doesn’t appeal. Your Long Island car service is waiting and eager to take you to any of these great events.

1. THE HAMPTON CLASSIC

If you’ll be in Southampton during the last days of summer, there’s no better way to bid the season adieu than by attending this weeklong horse show. Dating back to the 1970s, the Hampton Classic is only the second of its kind to receive the Heritage Competition by the United States Equestrian Federation.  The Hampton Classic is also the place that draws hopefuls eyeing the East Coast World Cup. It serves as the first round for those hoping to qualify for the renowned competition. This year, the competition will take place from August 25 to September 1.

2. TOUR SOUTHAMPTON VILLAGE

Glide deeper into the past as you tour the historical structures dotting the pretty area. At Rogers Mansion, the Southampton Historical Museum, you can walk through businesses from the 19th century, including a blacksmith’s shop, a paint shop, and a one-room schoolhouse. At the Thomas Halsey Homestead on South Main Street, you can see furnishings from the 17th and 18th centuries. And at the Elias Pelletreau Silversmith Shop, you can soak in the history of what the museum says is the oldest continuously open shop in the country. You can even request a workshop with the jeweler to see how jewelry was made back in the day.

3. SUMMER CONCERTS IN THE PARK

Starting this year on July 3, the Southampton Cultural Center will hold its annual Summer Concerts in the Park series. Each concert takes place on Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. in Agawam Park and Coopers Beach. It’s a lovely way to get some fresh air and hear lively music all at the same time. Past performers have included big band, rock, reggae, and jazz, so there’s a whole range of styles represented.

4. WATCH A BREAKERS GAME

Baseball fans will love attending these free games and see some of the best college players in action. The Hampton Breakers have had players such as Mariners’ all-star Chris Pike, making them a team to keep your eye on. Enjoy the crack of the bat and the cheering of the crowd as you watch the team play at Stonybrook Southampton in Shinnecock Hills.

5. HAVE A BEER AT SOUTHAMPTON PUBLICK HOUSE

Here you can enjoy pub fare along with a fresh beer brewed by the restaurant itself. Consisting of a brewery on one side fo the building, and a dining area on the other, the Publick House has a rotating menu of beers that changes with the seasons. And since you’ll be visiting during the summer, you can take advantage of the porch outside and enjoy your food and beer al fresco.

6. STROLL AROUND THE FARMER’S MARKET

Especially if you’re staying for longer than a week and you want to cook a homemade meal, the Southampton Farmer’s Market is a must-see. Live music will score your visit as you browse the wares sold at this weekly market, held every Sunday from June to October. Purchase anything from locally grown produce to organic honey to homemade soap.

A summer in Southampton is good. A summer in Southampton with car service is even better. When you make plans to do any activity during your trip, be sure to hire a sedan to get you there. You’ll feel relaxed, your Chauffeur will be friendly and accommodating, and your trip will be one that you’ll gush about when you go home.
