10TH ANNUAL STARLIGHT BALL, JUNE 1
This gala event will literally be a red-carpet event, with celebrities leading the event such as Christie Brinkley and Cyndi Lauper performing. Cocktails and conversation will fill the night as guests mingle with one another, enjoy a delicious dinner, and participate in a silent auction. The proceeds will benefit the Ross school and the Steven J. Ross scholarship fund, which helps finance education for Ross students in need.
COMEDIANS AT WEST HAMPTONS BEACH PERFORMING ARTS CENTER, JUNE
A range of comedians will be appearing at WHBPAC throughout the month of June. Kicking things off is Jay Mohr, who will bring his unique brand of wry humor to the stage on May 9. His performance will be followed by Kathy Griffin’s outrageous stand-up on May 22. The week after that begins with the blunt Ron White, of Blue Collar Comedy tour fame, on May 30. Whether your sense of humor tends toward the witty or shocking side of things, one of these three comedians is sure to get your cheeks hurting from laughing.
HAMPTON JAZZ FESTIVAL, JUNE 28-JUNE 30
Wrapping up the end of the month is a star-studded festival featuring artists such as Gladys Knight and Jill Scott. This year marks the festival’s 45th year, and visitors will get to hear top-notch performances from jazz, pop, soul, and blues artists. The Hampton Coliseum will continue its tradition of hosting the performances, as it has since its opening in 1970. The festival is sure to be a treat, whether you’re visiting for the first time or the forty-fifth.
BAY STREET ROCK THE DOCK SUMMER GALA: JULY 20
If you have a love for theater, this annual fundraiser may be just the event for you. Last year’s event featured guests such as True Blood star Chris Bauer and stage, film, and television actress Mercedes Ruehl. The organization also held a prize drawing for a Mini-Cooper or a cash prize of $18,000, and gift bags for guests included items from L’Oreal and Dirty Blonde Cocktails. This year’s event is sure to be no less extravagant, so be sure to purchase tickets and support the city’s beloved theater.
JAMES BEARD: CHEFS AND CHAMPAGNE, JULY 20
Every summer, the James Beard Foundation holds a fundraiser that honors one of the brightest stars in the culinary world. This year’s honoree is Andrew Zimmern, host of the Food Network’s Bizarre Foods. Guests will have the chance to taste dishes created by more than 35 chefs from the best restaurants in New York. The event will take place at Wölffer Estate Vineyard, which will offer its delicious wines to pair with the food.
Summer is one of the best seasons to experience the Hamptons, and these events are just a sampling of what the area has to offer.
