To help you start planning your Long Island wine tour for this spring, we’ve spotlighted a few amazing North Fork vineyards below.

LONG ISLAND WINERIES YOU MUST VISIT

MARTHA CLARA VINEYARDS

6025 Sound Avenue, Riverhead, NY

The brainchild of the illustrious Entenmann family of New York, Martha Clara vineyards is named after the mother of the famous Robert Entenmann, who opened the vineyard in 1995.

Over the last 20 years, Entenmann’s small 18-acre vineyard grew to over 100 acres and remains one of the most visited and best loved vineyards on the North Fork.

Among their wines list is their popular 2010 Semillon, the 2012 Chardonnay and their award-winning Merlot Magnum, which was named the “Best Merlot in New York State” at the New York Wine and Food Classic.

MACARI VINEYARDS

150 Bergen Avenue, Mattituck, NY

Established in 1995, Macari Vineyards is owned by a husband and wife team and exists on land that has been in the Macari family for over 50 years.

In 2009 the Macaris added a second tasting room and 20 acres onto their existing property, increasing their wine production and their capacity for visitors.
Some of their most popular wines include the 2013 Sauvignon Blanc and the delicious 2010 Dos Aguas.

Visiting hours for the tasting room are daily from 11 am to 5pm, and on the weekends from 9 am to 5 pm.

BAITING HOLLOW FARM VINEYARDS

Make your group reservations in plenty of advance, and you’ll be given a private room and a tasting that includes 6 different wines for a rate of $16.00 per person. You can also sample the vineyards premium wines, including their special dessert wine.

PINDAR VINEYARDS

The founder and owner of Pindar Vineyards, Dr. Herodotus “Dan’ Damianos, was a key player in helping put Long Island vineyards on the map in the 1980s; today, his efforts remain fruitful, literally, as his vineyard produces award-winning wines each season.

Their award-winning Pythagoras Special Red and their famous Syrah (which was Long Island’s first iteration of the Syrah variety) are both key players in their dynamic red wine list.

On the white wine side, you can expect outstanding varieties like their popular 2012 Sunflower Chardonnay and the ever-popular Riesling, which sells out quickly each season.
