48 HOURS IN LONG ISLAND: 5 THINGS TO DO

This blog was originally published in May of 2015; we have since updated it to reflect the most current and accurate information possible.

Whether you’re in town on business or leisure, Long Island is a dynamic destination with plenty to do and plenty to see.

You can also enjoy the luxury of choosing a larger vehicle, like a party bus or a limo bus, to accommodate many more of your friends. Executive’s limo buses can accommodate up to 33 passengers.

After you book your vehicle, it’s time to choose the things you’d most like to do while you’re in town. Here are a few of our favorites to consider.

MONTAUK POINT LIGHTHOUSE

2000 NY-27, Montauk, NY

The construction of this beautiful lighthouse was authorized by President George Washington in 1792.

To this day, it remains a notable attraction near Long Island.

If you’re in town on a weekend, you can stop by and tour some of the lighthouse’s noted rooms, including the double keeper’s dwelling, the oil room and the lighthouse tour. There is also a gift shop and museum to help you learn about the area’s history and the lighthouse’s significance to Montauk.

BAITING HOLLOW FARM VINEYARD

2114 Sound Avenue, Baiting Hollow, NY

One of the premiere vineyards on the North Fork is Baiting Hollow Farm Vineyards, located conveniently in Riverhead, Suffolk County, New York.

Baiting Hollow has a state-of-the-art tasting room, with a variety of “tastes” to suit your need.

From a single demi-taste for $4.00 to four demi-tastes for $16.00, you can sample the products, make a purchase and enjoy the beautiful vineyard grounds.

If you’d like to make a day out of touring some of the North Fork’s most notable vineyards, you can book a winery tour with Executive Ground Transportation, the premiere transportation company in Long Island.

CRADLE OF AVIATION MUSEUM AND EDUCATION CENTER

Charles Lindbergh Boulevard, Garden City, NY

If you were unaware, Long Island has a rich and storied history in aerospace and aviation; this museum pays tribute to that history, offering visitors the chance to see artifacts, learn about aerospace and enjoy events and exhibits dedicated to this history-changing technology. Some of the permanent exhibits you can hope to enjoy during your visit include:

  •          The Dream of Wings
  •          Balloon Basket
  •          Lilenthal Glider
  •          Wright Kite

OLD WESTBURY GARDENS

71 Old Westbury Road, Westbury, NY

If you’d like to experience some of the best manicured and most historical gardens in the area, head to the Old Westbury Gardens in Nassau County.

The Westbury Gardens were cultivated over 100 years ago, when the adjoining house was built by notable New Yorker, John S. Phipps. The property contains over 200 acres of gardens, woodlands, ponds and landscaped grounds, while the house contains genuine early-20th century antiques and furniture. Tours are available daily.

JONES BEACH STATE PARK

1 Ocean Parkway, Wantagh, NY

If a nice walk on the beach is more your style, consider stopping at the famous Jones Beach State Park.

The destination is breathtaking, over 6 miles of white sand beaches and 2,400 acres of maritime property.

You can fish, stroll the boardwalk, visit the museum, play miniature golf or grab a bite to eat at one of the concession stands. It’s a great way to spend a day getting sun, being active and getting to know one of the more beautiful areas of Long Island.

We hope your 48 hours on Long Island are everything you want them to be and more.

And we hope this list of great attractions has helped you narrow down your list of places to see!
